Windrush Day 2024

Thursday, 20 June 2024

Greater Manchester set to mark Windrush Day 2024 with annual celebration at Alexandra Park, Manchester.

Every year, the Caribbean & African Health Network (CAHN) proudly hosts a flagship Windrush Day celebration.

It's a time for our communities to come together, celebrate the power of migration, and especially, honour the lasting contributions of the Windrush generation.

This year’s event will be held on Saturday 22nd June from 12pm to 6pm at Alexandra Park, Manchester, 180 Russell Street, Manchester, M16 7JL.

Windrush 76 will build on the successes of last year’s celebrations, which marked the 75th anniversary of the arrival of HMT Windrush and simultaneously honoured the 75th birthday of the NHS.

As ever, entry is free for all!

The day will showcase cultural expression through authentic Caribbean food, artistic displays, artefacts and performances, and a variety of stallholders will exhibit their products and services. Health checks and screening will also take place.

In addition to exuberant and enlightening entertainment from the main stage, attendees can look forward to nostalgic reflection and community storytelling in the elders’ tent and fun in the children’s play area. More excitement will come in the form of competitive sports, scheduled to run throughout the day for all ages. Furthermore, Windrush 76 is set to feature key regional civic leaders, including Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham.
