Supporting Caring Colleagues

Friday, 11 June 2021

This week is Carers Week, an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges paid and unpaid carers face, and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK.

This year, people across the country are continuing to face new challenges because of the coronavirus outbreak. Many of our colleagues have taken on more caring responsibilities for their relatives and friends who are disabled, ill or older and who need support. Whilst many feel that caring is one of the most important things they do, it’s impact on all aspects of life from relationships and health to finances and work should not be underestimated.

We continue to work with Harry’s Pals to ensure we’re doing everything we can to support our colleagues who are carers. In the next week we’re holding a focus group with Harry’s Pals for these colleagues to share their experiences. Along with the results of a management survey and policy review, Harry’s Pals will use the feedback from the focus group to develop recommendations for how we can better support our colleague carers at MSV.

We want to recognise our carers for the difficulties they are experiencing, respect and thank them for all they are doing, and provide them with support and understanding. Thank you for everything that you do!
