Ravenswood Close in Chatburn has officially opened, marking an important milestone for affordable homes in the Ribble Valley.

The development, which is the borough's first 100% affordable housing scheme, provides 37 high-quality homes for local people and has been delivered through a partnership between MSV Housing, Ribble Valley Borough Council, Pringle Partnerships, Markhams and Homes England.

Ribble Valley Deputy Mayor, Lee Jameson officially opened the scheme by planting a tree in the beautiful setting of the grounds of Ravenswood, joined by Councillor Simon Hore, Leader of Ribble Valley Borough Council

Situated on the edge of Chatburn village, Ravenswood has been thoughtfully designed to complement its surroundings, with a collection of attractive traditional-style homes that reflect the character of the local area. The development offers residents the opportunity to enjoy village life while benefiting from easy access to local amenities, services and the beautiful Ribble Valley countryside.

The scheme comprises 37 affordable homes, including 17 homes for social rent and 20 available through shared ownership. Offering a mix of one, two, three and four-bedroom properties, the development includes apartments, mews-style homes, semi-detached houses and bungalows, creating a diverse and balanced community that meets a range of local housing needs.

As the first development in the Ribble Valley comprised entirely of affordable housing, Ravenswood represents an important milestone in expanding access to high-quality homes within the borough and helping local people remain within their valued community.

Representing an investment of £8.7 million the development has been designed with sustainability at its heart. All 37 homes are fully electric and fitted with air source heat pumps and hot water cylinders, helping residents to reduce their environmental impact while benefiting from energy-efficient homes. The scheme has been supported through funding from Homes England.

Ribble Valley Deputy Mayor Lee Jameson said:

“The provision of affordable housing is one of the most pressing issues facing the council and this Chatburn scheme is stunning.

“Affordable housing is an ideal way for some of our residents to access the housing market and we are delighted that these high-quality properties are becoming available in a village location where affordable properties are virtually non-existent.

“We would like to thank MSV Housing Group and Homes England for bringing this much-needed scheme to fruition.”

Charlie Norman, Chief Executive of MSV Housing Group, said:

"We’re thrilled to officially open Ravenswood and to welcome residents to their new homes. As the Ribble Valley’s first 100% affordable housing development, this is a really important milestone, particularly at a time when the need for affordable, high-quality homes has never been more important. We’re incredibly proud to have played our part in delivering these homes which will make a real difference to local people."

"We’d like to thank The Deputy Mayor and Councillor Hore and all our partners for their support in making Ravenswood possible. Most importantly, we wish all of our residents every happiness in their new homes and look forward to seeing this new community grow and thrive here in Chatburn.

Sam Fleuriot, Commercial Director of Pringle Partnerships said:

"This is a flagship affordable development for Pringle in the Ribble Valley. As a local family run property developer, we're passionate about creating thriving communities and places where people can put down roots, and we're incredibly proud to have worked alongside MSV to deliver such high-quality, affordable homes that will make a real difference to local families. It’s great seeing new residents move into homes within a community they know and value."

"We remain committed to continuing our investment in the Ribble Valley and working with Ribble Valley Council and MSV to bring forward further affordable housing opportunities that benefit local people and communities, addressing the significant demand for affordable housing in the region."
