Moss Side Environmental Challenge

Sunday, 06 February 2022

On Wednesday 9th February, MSV's Neighbourhood Central Team is working alongside volunteers from the University of Manchester and Manchester City Council's Central team to take on an environmental challenge to spruce up and improve four main sites in the Moss Side area.

This is only possible because we have joined up with the University of Manchester's Big Volunteer Day, a national campaign to promote student volunteering, and this year Moss Side has become the focus of the student week of activity.

As a team of volunteers, we will be improving the space for local residents, wildlife and for everyone passing by. If you would like to volunteer to help out on the day we’ll be based at the green space at the bottom of Ossory Street and the other identified areas will be Grierson Street on the Alex Park estate, The Powerhouse on Raby street and The Aquarius Centre in Hulme. Each of the sites will have a named lead person to coordinate the work, look after volunteers and residents, ensure we have health and safety in place and keep people well refreshed.

If you would like to volunteer to help out on the day please join us anytime between 10am-3pm on Wednesday for a cup of tea, or to get stuck in with some of the activities!

We will also litter pick identified areas, if you want to take part in this let us know.

If you would like more info, please contact Neighbourhood Officer Raf on 07557 393 455.
