Menopause Awareness Day - #MenopauseMatters

Tuesday, 18 October 2022

This World Menopause Day we want to encourage people to normalise conversations about the menopause.

The theme chosen by the International Menopause Society for this year's World Menopause Day on 18th October is 'Brain Fog and Memory Difficulties in Menopause', a common symptom of perimenopause and menopause.

The NHS describes menopause occurring 12 months after someone who was born a woman has their last period. The years leading up to that point, when they may have changes in their monthly cycles, hot flashes, or other symptoms, are called the menopausal transition or perimenopause. The menopausal transition most often begins between ages 45 and 55. Members of the trans and non-binary community can sometimes experience menopause symptoms if they are taking hormonal treatments.

For World Menopause Day 2022, the British Menopause Society has partnered with ITN Productions Industry News to produce a programme hosted by Louise Minchin, ‘Menopause: Continuing the Conversation’ to cut through confusing messages and misinformation.

The programme will launch at 12 noon on 18 October 2022 online at bit.ly/3S18WTK

Continuing the conversation with our colleagues

We want to continue the conversation about menopause and have recently set up a new Menopause Employee Network at MSV, open to all employees, whether they are experiencing any stage of menopause themselves, are interested in finding out more or wish to support a relative or friend.

The Network aims to provide an opportunity to network and share experiences and knowledge in a safe environment as well as influencing positive change and raising awareness.
