October is Black History month, a time to recognise and celebrate the invaluable contributions of black people to British society. The official theme this year is #Saluting our Sisters, shining a light on the crucial role that black women in particular have played in shaping history, inspiring change, and building communities. To mark Black History month we are also shining a light on the fantastic achievements of our ART Group (Anti-Racism Taskforce). Please look out for a podcast with members of the group which will be released later this month!
Please watch the short video with Sam and Tia where they talk about the brilliant work of the ARTGroup so far which includes:
- Making changes to policies and tenancy agreements to reflect MSV's anti - racism stance
- Creating incident reporting forms - MSV is an active reporting centre for hate crime
- Raising awareness about anti- racism through a calendar of events throughout the year
- Recruiting a Board Member, Kam Urwin, to the ART Group to ensure there is support from the top down
#BHM2023
MSV are proud to support the Caribbean and African Health Network and colleagues from MSV will once again be attending the CAHN Annual Awards and Fundraising Gala. The event will celebrate the accomplishments over the year and CAHN's work with partners in government, statutory organisations, community, faith leaders and the private sector to address the health disparities in the black community.
We were thrilled to win an award for MSV's Commitment to Diversity at the CAHN Gala last year! (pictured below)
