We were delighted to be joined by Councillor Sameena Zaheer and Councillor Mohammad Arshad to celebrate the 30 year anniversary of Khubsuret House yesterday. There was a fantastic turn out, testament to the many residents, colleagues and local partners who have been involved in the scheme – we were even joined by Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, who surprised us by turning up in their fire engine!

Khubsuret House is our multi-cultural Later Living scheme at the heart of Milkstone in Rochdale, providing 33 apartments for the over 55s.

So many people have described Khubsuret House as a warm, welcoming and fun place to be. Over the past three decades the scheme has provided support and services for the residents and the local community, in collaboration with our wonderful local partners. The scheme holds a weekly residents’ dementia awareness group with activities and support and in recent weeks a free multi-lingual wellbeing service was launched. This new service has helped residents of Khubsuret House with money management and welfare advice, in partnership with Deeplish Community Centre and Action Together and so far it has proved to be a great success.

Khubsuret House has gained national recognition and acclaim over the years, winning 13 awards since it opened back in 1993, including the Rochdale Diversity Award in 2012 and the Gold Award at the Elderly Accommodation Council National Housing for Older People awards ceremony in 2017.

Charlie Norman, CEO of MSV Housing said:

“It’s an honour and a privilege to be here celebrating 30 years of friendship, solidarity and diversity at Khubsuret House, a scheme which provides invaluable support for residents and the local community. Scheme Coordinator Salma Chaudri is at the heart of Khubsuret House and has given so much to the scheme and the community - we are so grateful for everything she has done over the years.”
