Our second staff profile, Tanique Daley, Resident Engagement Officer.

there is no such thing as failure, just lessons learnt to prepare you for the routes and journey ahead

- Tanique Daley

Find out more about Tanique who shares a little bit about herself and what Black History Month means to her.

Well, what can I say, I have played cricket with the England Team at Old Trafford. Whilst slightly out of practice, I also learned how to write shorthand, whilst studying Journalism, Crime and Deviance at Staffordshire University

I would tell myself there is no such thing as failure, just lessons learnt to prepare you for the routes and journey ahead. As long as you are learning you are WINNING!

Whilst black history can never be limited to, explained or confined to a single month. It is definitely a celebration and an acknowledgement of where we have come from, where we are at and where we are going.

It is a celebration of the invaluable contribution black people have made to society, and a BIG thank you those who have paid the price before us and paved the way, so that I and many others who look like me can live the life we do today.

However, there is still a long winding road ahead, but progress is being made.

I have a Batchelors Degree in Criminology and Sociology from Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU). Shortly after graduating, I fell into a career in housing and have never left. I started at Great Places Housing Group in a strategic role, after a secondment as a Resident Involvement Officer, I realised the frontline was where I wanted to be. I went on to do several different roles including rents, allocations, and project management etc. Whilst working at Great Places, I also returned to University (University of Salford), to get my Postgraduate Diploma in Housing Practices.

At MSV I have worked as both a Neighbourhood and Resident Engagement Officer. I have also been involved in a number of highly successful projects such as the Anti Racism Taskforce (A.R.T), Housing Diversity Network (HDN) and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion group (EDI) etc.

I continue to expand and enhance my knowledge and experiences in other areas/roles within the organisation.

Special thanks to Tanique for sharing and please keep an eye out for more staff spotlights throughout October.
