Equality and Inclusion

MSV has a long-standing commitment to the principles of equality and fairness and a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of racism, discrimination, harassment and victimisation.

We hold the fundamental belief that everyone has the right to be treated with dignity and respect.

We are an equal opportunities landlord and employer

We value the benefits of a diverse workforce and Board that then reflects the diversity in our local communities. We ensure equal and fair practice in recruitment and employment, the provision of goods and services and decision making by offering tenancies, policies and procedures, terms and conditions of employment and procurement that are fair and equitable. We consider the needs of individuals and groups when developing policy and work with our partners to promote a culture of tolerance and respect in our local communities.

We actively promote equality and challenge unfair treatment and all forms of harassment and victimisation related to any of the nine protected characteristics:-

  • Age
  • Disability
  • gender reassignment
  • marriage and civil partnership
  • pregnancy and maternity
  • race (includes ethnic or national origins, colour or nationality)
  • religion or belief (includes non-belief)
  • sex
  • sexual orientation

ART Group

MSV has an Anti-racism Taskforce which meets regularly to discuss in an open and safe space issues relating to tackling racism in our communities and workforce.  One of MSV’s guiding principles is the belief that that we must be more than anti-racist, and lead the fight against racism.  Our ART Group includes a Board Member and representatives from our customers.

LGBTQ+ Pride

We believe that everyone who comes into contact with MSV has the right to be treated with dignity and respect. We pride ourselves on being a housing provider that is proactive on inclusion and as a member of HouseProud, a network for LGBTQ+ people working in social housing, we pledge to deliver on three core commitments:

  1. Ensuring LGBTQ+ residents have input at an executive/strategic level.
  2. Increasing LGBTQ+ visibility through the use of the Pledge symbol.
  3. Initiating a programme of staff training to improve understanding of LGBTQ+ lives.

Our long-standing commitment to the principles of equality and fairness includes a zero-tolerance approach on all forms of discrimination, harassment and victimisation and we aim to achieve the kitemark for our new extra care schemes, to ensure it is as inclusive as possible for older people in the LGBTQ + communities.

Gender Pay Gap Report

As part of our ongoing commitment to equality and diversity, we publish an annual Gender Pay Gap Report. We understand that a diverse workforce enriches the workplace and properly reflects the communities we serve. We will continue to monitor pay across grades and genders to ensure we are meeting our statutory requirements.
