Residents re-live their memories at Charles Forbes Court

Debbie from our Community projects team has been running Reminiscence sessions over the past few weeks at our sheltered scheme Charles Forbes Court.  Residents have been exploring old photographs and the internet to inspire recollections from their past.  They have been enjoying sharing their memories and creating scrapbooks over tea and coffee.

Mary spoke of her experience; ‘I was so pleased that Debbie helped me find pictures of the shop where I first worked.  I had gone to visit the shop myself but it wasn’t there anymore and must have folded up so it was great to find these pictures.’

Frank told of his memory of being the first family on his street to get a TV with local children coming into their garden and peering through their window to watch it. Frank said:  “I have been coming for a few weeks now and have really enjoyed the sessions - they have been great fun. Debbie has been asking lots of questions which have brought back memories!”

Debbie, Community Projects Worker said:  "Our Reminiscence Project has brought back so many memories for our tenants who have taken part.  I have loved hearing them share their stories with each other which has helped them realise common interests and led to new friendships.  We have sung songs as we have produced their memory scrap books and we have all learned something new from taking part."
