What is Anti Social Behaviour
ASB is defined as behaviour that causes or is likely to cause harassment, alarm, or distress. This can include:
- Domestic abuse or other physical violence
- Hate crimes
- Verbal abuse, intimidation or threatening language
- Drug dealing or substance misuse
- Noise nuisance
- Vandalism or graffiti
- Nuisance from vehicles
- Fly-tipping
But remember, not everything is ASB. Things like a baby crying, DIY noise at reasonable times, or children playing ball games without causing deliberate damage aren't considered anti-social behaviour.

Making Communities Safer
This week, we're shining a spotlight on anti-social behaviour (ASB) as part of ASB Awareness Week. By working together we hope to create safer, more peaceful neighbourhoods.
At MSV, we believe everyone deserves to feel happy and safe in their homes and community. Anti-social behaviour can really impact your quality of life, and we're committed to tackling it.
We're committed to #MakingCommunitiesSafer!

Our Anti- Social Behaviour Service Standard - our promise to you
At MSV we have an Anti-Social Behaviour Service Standard which outlines the steps we are taking to provide customers with a safe and comfortable living environment.
We plan to:
- Visit new tenants within six weeks of moving into their new home.
Your Neighbourhood Officer will help you settle in by providing housing and local community information and support. - Remove graffiti reported or identified within one week.
Unless being investigated by the police. We will work in partnership with the local authorities to report any graffiti. - Investigate promptly any fly-tipping on MSV-owned land.
We aim to identify the person(s) responsible and request removal.
If the rubbish is not removed, we will arrange for the removal and recharge those concerned if they are identified.
We will work in partnership with the local authorities to report any fly-tipping which is not on MSV’s land. - Acknowledge and Assess reports of anti-social behaviour within 24 hours.
- If it is serious anti-social behaviour; including violence, threats, harassment, hate behaviour, or domestic abuse.
We will speak to you as soon as possible either over the phone or arrange contact within one working day.

MSV is not just your housing provider; we're also a national hate crime reporting centre. This means anyone in the community, whether a resident or not, can contact us to report anti-social behaviour and hate crimes in confidence.
Our dedicated Anti-Social Behaviour Team is trained to support victims and take action against perpetrators. They can help you:
- Submit a police report, if desired
