What a Day at Moss Side rec park!

Friday’s community event was a massive success—and that’s all thanks to you!

Over 30 fantastic stalls filled Moss Side Park with colour, energy and connection. From Olympic‑style sports (GMP hilariously dropping the egg at the finish line of the egg‑and‑spoon race!) to football sessions, creative workshops, live music and games, the park buzzed from start to finish.

Afzal Khan, MP for Manchester Rusholme, chatted with local residents and even tried his hand at rugby:

“I had a great time at the Fun Day in Moss Side! It was fantastic seeing our community come together and enjoy the summer holidays in Rec Park over games, music and Moss Side pride. Thanks to MSV, Millennium Powerhouse and our many local partners for making this day happen.”

Highlights included:

• Young people getting stuck in with Sale Sharks, Stride, Man City and Street Doctors
• Art and expression workshops with Odd Arts and Creating Effective Generations
• Ice‑cream queues (Franco, you were a hit 🍦)
• Big community conversations at the MSV stand—free raffle tickets and loads of great feedback!

A huge thank‑you to Millennium Powerhouse and all our partners, everyone who helped organise and run stalls, and—most importantly—everyone who turned up. You made it a brilliant day of connection, fun and community pride.
