With temperatures soaring over the next few days, remember to stay safe in the sun.
- Try and keep out of the sun between 11am and 3pm
- If you have to go out, walk in the shade, wear light clothing and a wide brimmed hat and apply sunscreen regularly (minimum Factor 30)
- Have plenty of cold drinks to keep hydrated (avoiding too much alcohol)
- Ensure children wear a hat or head covering and light, loose- fitting cotton clothes
- Close curtains on rooms that face the sun to keep indoor spaces cooler
- Never leave anyone in a closed, parked vehicle, especially infants, young children or animals
- Avoid exercising in the hottest parts of the day
- If you are going into open water to cool down, take care and follow the safety advice
- Provide plenty of water and shade for pets and walk dogs early or late in the day
Stay cool and stay safe!
