If you are celebrating Christmas this year here are some tips on recycling over the festive period...
Please check your local Council’s website for changes to your bin collection dates
Recycling your Christmas Trees:
- At your nearest Recycling Centre - find your local centre here
- Some councils will accept a tree in your Green Bin - check your local council’s website here to find out if they accept them and whether it should be chopped up first
- Charity Collection - Just Helping may collect your tree from homes across Greater Manchester for a donation to a local charity. Book a collection or find out more here
- Leave at a Drop-Off Point - check on your local council’s website if there are drop offs near you
Recycling other Christmas Items:
- Wrapping Paper, Crackers and Cards: Put in your paper recyling bin only if made entirely of paper/card (use the scrunch test: if it stays scrunched, it's recyclable). Put items with foil, plastic coatings, glitter, metallic shapes, bows, or ribbons in the General Waste bin.
- Electrical Items (Lights, Cables): Must go to your local recycling centre. Do not put in any household bins.
- Batteries: Do not put in bins. Please take them to your local recycling centre, supermarket, or designated recycling shop.
