We are delighted to announce that our Young Persons Services have received the highest possible Ofsted rating under the supported accommodation framework.
Inspectors found consistently strong service delivery, positive experiences for young people, and timely, effective leadership.
They said:
“Children feel safe where they live. They understand the roles of staff and how they can support them. Accommodation is welcoming, homely and of a good standard and staff are ambitious for children and there is a focus on education and future goals.”
Inspectors found that staff help children develop social relationships and provide them with regular activities and that accommodation includes comfortable spaces for social interactions and activities. They also commented that children are able to enjoy activities away from their accommodation having new experiences, allowing them to feel more confident and achieve a sense of belonging.
The inspectors noted that staff are ambitious for children and encourage engagement in education and understand the pressures children may face, such as exams, and that children are supported to manage this pressure to help them achieve their goals. This makes children feel supported and some children have moved on to university.
Charlie Norman, CEO at MSV said: “MSV has been committed to our Foyers and care experienced young person’s services for over 25 years now, and these are services that go right to the heart of what we are about. Our thanks to the inspection team for taking the time to really understand the service we deliver and most importantly to the young people who were interviewed as part of this process. Thanks also go to our much valued commissioning team partners at Manchester City Council, Trafford Borough Council and Blackburn with Darwen Council.
A special thank you to colleagues at MSV who deliver life changing services every day. They help young people who, for whatever reason, have not had the best start, to feel safe, grow and flourish and importantly go on and find a new positive path in life – so many young people with talent, aspiration and dreams who just need stability and support to help them realise their dreams. We could not be more proud of you all.”
