Council Leader urges Manchester to come together against hate

Friday, 20 February 2026

The far-right group Britain First are planning a march in Manchester City Centre this Saturday 21st February. It will start at Piccadilly station at 12pm and is expected to go to St Peter's Square.

There are counter demonstrations also planned from other groups including Stand Up to Racism Manchester.

As previous marches such as this have seen large numbers of people taking part, and on occasions have lead to violence, you may wish to avoid the city centre during this time.

Any racist, far-right activity such as this can understandably lead to many customers feeling unsafe. Please be assured that MSV stands against all forms of racism and instead celebrates diversity. #MSVAgainstHate

Bev Craig, Leader of Manchester City Council, has released a statement condemning the march and stating clearly that there is no place for hate in Manchester - please do have a read here.
