Our Bramhall Hub: Knitting communities together

MSV’s Bramhall Community Hub is not just a place where local people go for a brew and chat, although that definitely takes place along with lots of laughter!  The Hub stands out for the amazing work the volunteers do for charities across Greater Manchester.

All the local residents who attend the Bramhall Hub, including our volunteers Delia and Kat, do so much for charities in their local community and beyond.

Delia and Kat’s passion and drive to help others less fortunate than ourselves is aspirational and their enthusiasm gets everyone involved. Along with the chatter you will hear the clatter of knitting needles; yes the group meet to knit, crochet and natter!

The group knit and crochet muffs, blankets and bags which are given out to people who are recovering from strokes, wheelchair users and patients with Dementia and Alzheimer’s.  The Hub regularly supply Bamford Care, Davenport Manor and Brabyn’s House along with Wythenshawe Hospital and local Nursing Homes.  A thank you message from a staff member at Wythenshawe Hospital read:  ‘I have started to distribute the blankets and staff are stopping in their tracks in admiration, they are so impressed’.

Skull caps, mittens, teddies, booties, cardigans, blankets and cribs are also knitted and crocheted at the hub for babies.  The volunteers there also provide Angel Babies UK with beautiful silk dresses, made from donated wedding gowns.

Bramhall Community Hub is a registered food bank provider and is registered as an official centre for the Rucksack Appeal to help the homeless, run by The Wellspring, Stockport.    The Hub also collect and donate to St Matthews Church who operate a ‘bags of support’ scheme  for people in A&E.

The hub is a hive of activity, with lots to offer the community, if you feel this is a place you would like to get involved with please just call in, we are a friendly group and  would like to see new faces.

The Hub is open every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11am to 2pm for coffee morning, and opens the first Saturday in the month for Councillor Vine’s drop in surgery.
