Too Good To Go

A new app has launched to help people who are struggling to afford to eat whilst reducing the hundreds of thousands of tonnes of good food that goes to waste every year.

It’s estimated that 7 million people in the UK struggle to get enough to eat according to government figures and The Food Foundation. Yet, around 2 million tonnes of ‘good-to-eat’ food is wasted by the food industry every year in the UK. That’s equivalent to 1.3 billion meals – enough to feed everyone in food poverty for half the year (more than 180 meals each)!

Too Good To Go is a new app that’s been launched to help change this.

It lets you buy and collect surplus and unsold food at a great price.  The concept is simple - businesses such as your local grocery store, food outlet or supermarket sign up to partner with Too Good To Go and every day offer a certain number of Magic Bags to customers who purchase through the app.

It’s a mystery as you don’t know what you are going to get, but it’s super cheap to buy a bag. The price will vary depending on the contents however you'll see discounts of 50% or more - less than the original retail price.
