Care Leavers Week

Monday, 02 November 2020

This week is Greater Manchester Care Leavers Week (2nd – 6th November) and Trafford Council want to recognise the achievements of care leavers over the past year, this can be anything from starting a new apprenticeship, securing housing or even just making positive changes in their life.

Trafford Council has asked MSV to get involved as Forest Court is a commissioned service for Care Leavers aged 16 – 19 years. Unfortunately, we cannot do the celebration we wanted to do due to COVID. So instead we have given all residents a gift pack containing treats as well as items to keep them occupied to show our appreciation and to acknowledge this week.

Trafford Care Leavers Eldana from Manchester Foyer, and Kim and Charlie from Forest Court told us about their achievements this past year:

Charlie

This year Charlie from Forest Court has achieved his Maths GSCE and has gained independence by moving from a children’s home into semi-independent living.

However, the biggest achievement of all is that Charlie is expecting a baby boy in December. Congratulations Charlie!

Kim

Monday was Kim's first day at Forest Court. She moved in after living in foster care and has started her first job in youth work at Gorse Hill Studios. We welcome you to the family Kim!

Eldana
