We support and assist people to achieve their goals and have been doing so for over 15 years. Based in the heart of the community our staff and volunteers strive to provide services to meet the needs of the wider community of Farnworth and beyond, both for Mosscare St Vincent’s tenants and local residents.

These generally speaking, come under two broad headings:

1. Health and wellbeing:

  • Counselling - The Ucan Centre offers free one to one counselling / professional talking therapies with a qualified Counsellor - please call for an appointment
  • Pregnancy Support - We provide a ground breaking Pregnancy Support Therapist services (funded by BCH) in a relaxed, supportive environment for women who have been referred by their midwife (Farnworth, Kearsley, Little Lever area only).
  • Volunteering – we offer volunteering opportunities and encourage people to volunteer. We will offer advice and put you in touch with other organisations which support volunteers.  Evidence suggests that volunteering brings health benefits to both the volunteers and the people they help. Find out more here
  • Benefits help and advice - We can help you with completing forms for benefits applications and when necessary (such as more complex debt advice) make appointments with CAB (Citizens Advice Bureau) . Find out more about benefits here
  • Knit and natter –  We would love to set up an open session for crafters to share a cuppa and share your skills – please call if you need a venue for your group or want help setting up a group.

Please call us on 01204 794951 to make an appointment or to find out more about our health and wellbeing services

2. Work and Training:

Our computer suite is open to all with training and a work club. We are a UK Online Centre which gives access to Learn My Way; an online facility which allows you to learn at your own pace.

  • IT support - Our volunteers and staff offer IT support and we hold UK Online sessions when there is a demand, please call us for more details
  • Access to computers - Our computer suite is open to the public for free drop in sessions during opening hours.
  • Groups and organisations can book the IT suite for bespoke sessions, please call us for more details
  • Work club - Our work club is held every Wednesday morning for Job seekers. This is supported by our very own “barrier buster” Cath, who can help give your CV a new look and provide lots of practical advice to break down those barriers to work.
  • Are you a budding entrepreneur? We work closely with the Banana Enterprise Network, a social enterprise which provides training for people starting a business.
  • Volunteering - Volunteering can provide a path to employment – we are always looking for volunteers to help us to deliver our services, you never know where it might lead!
